Dr Luisa Fernandez-Ford, Clinical Psychologist.
Luisa is an experienced Clinical Psychologist and mum of two. She is a known for her friendly, down to earth and compassionate approach to therapy.
Luisa is extremely passionate in her belief that no one should to be struggling alone without the right emotional and psychological support. She is committed to offering effective clinical psychology services through therapeutic connection with her clients to help them thrive. Luisa has worked with many different kinds of people in the 22 years since she qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2003.
Luisa works with people who experience a range of different types of emotional and difficulties across the lifespan such as anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), low mood, depression, low self-esteem, bullying, difficulties with emotional dysregulation, anger issues. behaviour problems, bereavement, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and difficulties within family relationships.
As a clinical psychologist, Luisa is trained in a number of different therapies that allows her to find the right approach to suit your needs. Using a collaborative approach, the main psychological models Luisa uses are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and Brief Solution Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) informed practice.
Luisa has a specialist interest in all forms of anxiety, particularly working with children, teens and their parents to empower them to manage anxiety.
She has specialist expertise in working with individuals with Autism and ADHD and has completed extensive training in diagnostic assessment of these conditions in both children and adults. She has vast experience of supporting children and adults with neurodeveleopmental conditions.
Luisa has considerable experience in providing expert opinion in both Family and Civil Court proceedings. This includes psychological assessments for personal injury civil cases for both adults and children. She also has extenssve experience in completing a range of assessments for the Family Court, including assessing the quality and nature of parent – child relationships and attachment issues, associated family dynamics and parenting capacity.
Luisa is a Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) (Registration no PYL06173). She is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
